Because blogging and website creation are one of the most popular topics at the moment, I will start my list of Free Website / Blogging platforms, that I have used, I am still using or I ‘ve heard were pretty handy.
Number 1
Of course this is wordpress.org
When using not self hosted software platforms, you are not able to do many things and you have to abide and follow the rules, created by the company offering you the free service.
For that you can use wordpress.com
One thing I realized though, is that they have a very strict policy about what you CAN and CAN’T do with your wordpress.com blog. So, if you are going to use them, read their Terms of Use and Privacy Policy very carefully. Especially the part about using and posting affiliate links.
Number 2
My # 2 free, not self hosted website platform is Comfy Page.
These guys are great. Their website platform has so many options, that you can do almost everything you want. You have full control over both side bars, the header and the footer.
You can upload many files, use the site as an e-commerce online store, or do what ever you want to do. Just remember, that this is not a blogging platform, as you have only five pages. It’s just a great five page static website.
Number 3
Number 3 free Self Hosted Blogging platform is B2 Evolution.
Here is what they say about their blogging platform:
b2evolution is a powerful blog tool you can install on your own website. It includes all the features of traditional blog tools, and extends them with evolved features such as file & photo management, versatile skins, multiple blogs, detailed user permissions… not to mention plugins, of course.b2evolution is free, open-source software (GPL), runs on virtually any webserver featuring PHP + MySQL and is available in several languages.
Basically, you will going to have three /3/ blogs/websites at one place if you install their software.
Number 4
Blog It is a blogging /website platform and it is pretty much like wordpress.com, but you can change the header image with your own, and there is no restriction about what you can or can’t use in your blog. I am talking about the content/ affiliate links, sponsored links, etc./The only thing is that you are limited to a certain amount of space, and once you reach that limit, you have to switch to their paid version/ if you want to/.
Number 5
Number five is for Blogger.
Blogger is a blog publishing system. It was created by Pyra Labs, which was bought by Google in 2003. The service itself is located at www.blogger.com, and blogs that do not publish to their own websites are hosted by Google at subdomains of blogspot.com.

WordPressDirect has been designed to handle all the setup, SEO and maintenance functions for you. With over 15,000 users, we are the leader in Search-Optimized Blog Publishing”.
Now, I was using wordpress direct when I was doing my 30 day challange with Ed Dale, back in 2008. I did not know anything about wordpress.com or org, and I was introduced to the blogging platform by wordpress direct. What is the difference? You have some access to the control panel, you can set up your Google analytics and Adsense, you can choose between a couple of hundreds themes, but that’s it for the most part, if you sign up for their Free account. They have Golden and Platinum accounts, where you can have all the options if you have your own self hosted wordpress.org blog.
Number 12
Blue Voda – I never used or tried them, just know a few people which were using it. Some of them were happy with this software, others were disappointed. What they are offering is:
No HTML web design knowledge required (Very Easy Use – Drag & Drop)Pre – designed website templates included (Create Unlimited Web Pages)One Click Publishing” Go live on the internet in seconds!Create an Unlimited number of Websites (No Restrictions).Let your imagination run wild!
In Conclusion:
If You are not sure about any of these blogging/website platforms, you can always go to Google, and type in the name of the site you are interested in, and a customer review about that particular software. It is very helpful when you are wondering if this is the right thing for you. There are so many sites, blogs and platforms you can use for free, that sometimes you can feel overwhelmed with all that information. That is why I tried to give you some basic review, based on my personal experience, so you can have some idea about what to expect from any of the platforms mentioned in this post.
